I love Kimpton Hotels! My room this time was very small but good enough for me alone. If my husband had been with me, ... it would have been tight. Also, I would love to have had a chair other than the desk chair but it I don't think it would have fit. The negative thing was the waiter when I had breakfast one morning. Not only was he rude but after asking for milk for my coffee three times, he finally took it off someone else's table and placed it on mine. He did the same thing with the butter for my English Muffins; took the used butter off of a table where the people had just left and gave it to me! I was horrified.

Great Stay
Anonymous, Wilmington, NC Aug 3, 2008
I highly recommend the Hotel Monaco. The hotel itself is a beautifully restored historic building in a great location to ... Chinatown - the Smithsonian American Art Museum and Portrait gallery directly across the street. Safe clean area. The room was way beyond expectations - high ceilings and beautiful furnishings. Very rich feeling. The bed was so comfortable and the room was quiet. We'll definitely stay here again.

Excellent Business Location
Anonymous Aug 21, 2007
Hotel Monaco's location is excellent for getting to and from the Mall, White House and other federal buildings. The ... building is an old post office that has been turned into a comfortable hotel with a unique feel and comfort. Staff is very attentive.
Location is easy walking to the Spy Museuam and Ford Theater. Also, easy access to the subway system across the street.

Close to the Verizon Center
Anonymous Jul 14, 2007
The Hotel Monaco gave us a small room. They provide only a king size bed so they weren't family friendly. The king size bed ... took up much of the space. There was a narrow hall like space and at the end was a desk with no space to either side of the desk. The room did not have any windows but had large drapes from ceiling to floor to cover the fact. They had a nice bathroom and the Hotel was convient to the Verizon Center but I wouldn't stay there again. It was not a good value for the money.

My review of Hotel Monaco Washington DC - a Kimpton Hotel
Lisa Feb 11, 2007
The Monaco was fabulous. Not alone is it tres chic but the staff is super friendly and accomodating. Tea and coffee await you ... in the lobby in the morning and wine in the evening by an inviting fire. The NY Times is left at your door every morning and room service was delicious and prompt. The hotel is centrally located, you are across the streeet from the refurbished Portrait Gallery, on the same block as the Spy Museum and great restaurants and the Verizon Sports Center are minutes away. The room has high ceilings and an eclectic mix of furniture and colors. The sheets and towels are high quality and the beds very comfortable. I'd move in if management would let me!

Fantastic restaurant, Rosa Mexicana. The guacamole is made at your table and it is muy delicioso. The pomegrante margaritas aren't bad either!

Nobody asked us to carry our bags
Robert, Albuquerque, NM Jan 5, 2007
The Hotel Monaco is a beautiful hotel in a great neighborhood in washington. We we're completely satisfied with our stay and ... the handicap accessiblity. The only downside was when we checked in we had to ask the front desk for a bell man, and then wait a while as he was summoned...at the rates we're paying I would expect that aspect of checking in to be worked out. Especially when I clearly cannot carry my bags as I'm in a wheelchair.
The national protrait gallery is right across the street.
