Torn up by construction

You could not get to the lobby from the street, or to your room from the lobby or the street, without switching between ... elevators, if you could find one. Refused to accept my AAA discount even though they advertised that they would. This, in my opinion, is not four star quality.

Great for the price
Anonymous Aug 26, 2008
The lobby was undergoing renovations, but that didn't really impede anything... it wasn't really more inconvenient or ... anything to get to the rooms, and the construction noises didn't filter up there either. The beds were very comfortable, and the bathrooms were large and were stocked with plenty of towels. Overall, the hotel was clean and well-kept, and in a fairly central location. For the price, it was a steal!

Great Location
David Aug 26, 2008
This was our first time in DC and we were without a car, so the location was very important to us. It is very close to the ... mall so we were able to walk anywhere we wanted to go. It is also close to the Metro and that too was a plus. The only thing I was dissappointed about was there was no hot tub that I saw.

Hotel under major renovation & to avoid at all costs
Radu Aug 21, 2008
The hotel is under renovation and it is a very poor value for the money. In essence I was asked to pay for the Hyatt name & ... the location with nothing much in exchange. The pool was closed due to renovation ! The room with a clogged toilett which was not fixed until a day later. I actually had to use the public restrooms at a nearby Barnes & Noble bookstore ! This is my worst hotel travel experinec, this hotel is undergoing major renovations.

Hyatt Regency was a very nice hotel with excellent customer service. Room clean and nicely kept. There were some ... renovations taking place while I was there, but the staff made excellent efforts to accomodate. Only disappointment was that even in the business center, computer was a charge to rent time. No problem for me on a leisure trip this time, but may annoy some travelers more.
Union Station only a couple of blocks away - access to Metro (from Reagan Airport) or Amtrak. No need to have a car if you are sightseeing in the city.

The Regency is centrally located a short walk from the Capitol and a short drive from the mall where you can see all the ... major monuments. The staff is pleasant and very helpful. I enjoyed my stay there.
Try the liquor store across the street. You can get a good breakfast for a fraction of the price.

We only have one experience of this hotel so it may be unrepresentative but our experience was not what we expected as it was ... chaotic around check in/reception/restaurants with loads of kids and people with clipboards. Not recommended if you're after a relaxing trip. Having said that, the room was nice.

good location
GABRIELLA, Honolulu, HI Aug 17, 2007
The Hyatt Regency on Capitol Hill is a wonderful location for walking to the Capitol area. It's a short walk to Union Station ... and the metro. This was our first trip to Washington D.C. and this hotel was just purfect. Our check in was really quick and the hotel staff was very nice and helpful. Our first room smelted like cigarett smoke, we called the front desk and they changed our room real fast with no problems or trouble. The next room was so much better you could tell the difference in the air as soon as you got off the elevator. The room was fresh with two double beds which was very comfortable and the softest pillows. I loved it! I also liked the lobby area it had a bar station , a really nice restaurant and a gift shop all on one place. The food at the restaurant was very good and resonable. I would reccomend the Hyatt on Capitol Hill to all. Lots of families were visible the children loved the pool.
1. Union Station is about a couple of blocks away. It has a shopping center, food court, several restaurants, a theater, the metro and the train station all at one place it's awesome. 2. You have an awesome view of the Capitol, it's just out side the door.

Vacation package
Anonymous, Chicago, IL Aug 17, 2007
The price for the package was very reasonable. The Hotel was large and appeared to be popular with business conferences. ... The friendliness of the hotel staff was uneven. The hotel was restaurant was lovely and the service was excellent and avaialble. The hotel room comfortable but a little dark. The bathroom was newly remodeled and was beautiful. The bed was very comfortable. However, the furniture needs to be updated. The hotel was centrally located near Union Station and the Capital Building. You could walk or take public transportation.

Great Location!
Anonymous Aug 8, 2007
The Hyatt Regency on Capital Hill had very friendly staff and is in an ideal location just blocks away from The Mall and ... Union Station. Although the hotel was experiencing maintenance challenges during our stay, the staff ensured our needs were met and any inconveniences compensated. The room and bathroom were relatively spacious for a family of four. We were pleased with the availability of the indoor pool and gym.

Definitely take advantage of the Metro located at Union Station. Various tour and inexpensive dining options are available at Union Station, as well. The DC Circulator bus can be picked up only a few blocks from the hotel which comes by every 10 minutes and drives around The Mall during the weekdays.

The Metro Train Station is only a short walk from the Hotel. I had little to no experence using the Metro subway, we headed in the wrong direction once. I would recommend you look at a map of the system before you get their.
