Ideally located in Dupont Circle, luxurious Hotel Palomar puts "Art in Motion", for business and vacation travelers, with an artistic exposition in the heart of the nation's capital.
Having undergone a complete renovation in July, 2006, Hotel Palomar is influenced by the modern elegance of the 1930's French Moderne era. Hotel Palomar's artistic intentions are heralded by the two-story, "living room" lobby's inspiring design. Unique works of art meld with the lobby's architectural elements and grand furniture to provide the perfect ambience for the hotel's hosted evening wine reception.
Culinary delights are directed by Urbana Restaurant and Wine Bar, the destination eatery that serves locals and guests alike with an enlightened mix of sumptuous Italian dishes complimented by a wine selection managed by a resident sommelier.
Artistic details, vivid fabrics and plush furnishings also accent the newly renovated 335 richly appointed guestrooms that are one of the most sizable in DC, offering an average of 520 square feet of indulgent space.
Guests are pampered with plush robes and L'Occitane bath products. Industrial strength rejuvenation and relaxation is available with in-room spa services and "Mind.Body.Spa", which provides in-room yoga, Pilates and core strength programs. Standard amenities include A/C, morning coffee and tea service, 2-line phone with voicemail, evening turndown, oversized in-room safe, hairdryer, minibar, morning paper, umbrella, complimentary DSL and WiFi Internet, and cable, flat-screen TV with DVD/CD player and iHome alarm clock radio for iPods.
Services include valet laundry, complimentary overnight shoeshine, valet parking, and 24-hour room service. The full-service concierge can arrange trips and tours to all D.C.'s attractions. The pet-friendly hotel welcomes pets with a treat and food and water dishes to use during their stay. Walking services are also available. The fully equipped, 1,100 square foot fitness center features an outdoor lap pool and poolside sundeck. The Outdoor pool is open from Memorial Day to Labor Day and offers private cabanas. Motion Rooms are also available with relaxing Fuji soaking tubs and private exercise equipment.
The White House, Georgetown, DC Convention Center, Kennedy Center and Dupont Circle's shops, galleries, dining, and nightlife are within blocks of Hotel Palomar.

Great Staff and beautiful rooms
Sari, Austin Oct 20, 2008
We checked in early in the morning and the staff were pleasant and told us to come back in 2 hours and our room would be ... ready. After a lovely brunch nearby we returned and our room was ready! The location is wonderful with loads of restaurants and shopping near by. It is in a safe location, and door men greet you everytime you enter and leave. I would definitely return to this hotel.
We ate dinner at the bar as it was full, went out to see a show, and then returned to our same seats at the bar for a wonderful dessert.

If you are traveling to DC on business or pleasure you want to make it the best by staying at the Palomar. It is located ... just of Dupont circle just of the subway, lots of cabs, and accessible to every point in DC. Just around the corner from great restaurants, shopping and night life or just stay in, the Urbana is amazing. The rooms a spacious, fun, upscale and functional. You will truly feel pampered. Everything from the busy Happy Hour in the lobby to the free nightly shoe shine. I go out of my way to stay at the Palomar, my home away from home.

Great hotel

I will definetely return to the Palomar. Valet parking, doormen, coffee in the morning, wine in the evening. The Metro is ... only 2 blocks away - Dupont Circle. The room (520 sq. ft.) was very spacious with contemporary furnishings. The staff was very courteous at all times and even called to make sure my room was ok soon after arriving.
I stopped by the DC Cafe (I think that's their name) to try the DC Combo Platter for dinner and it was delicious. They are only a couple doors down.

Great location
Anonymous Sep 28, 2008
My room was a double, so I had plenty of room. I told the front desk that whoever the interior decorator was, they were very ... talented. The room decor was creative, fresh and different from your standard hotel room. The front desk staff was very helpful. The hotel restaurant is a little pricey, but the steak I had was excellent. Parking was high at the hotel (over $35 per day), but you have in-out privileges, and it's valet services. I would definitely stay again.
The hotel is near the Dupont Center Metro stop (about 2-3 blocks). The hotel is near a grocery store, and a variety of restaurants, a CVS, and other shops to get things you need.

Great Hotel

Had a 4 day girl's weekend with my mom to explore the DC area. Was looking for a hotel in an area that had restaurants and ... shopping within a walkable distance. The Hotel Palomar was a nice, updated hotel. The room was very large, the food in the restaurant was very good and we really enjoyed the neighborhood. Would recommend to others and would return on another trip.

The restaurant called Urbana, attached to the hotel was an evening hot spot. Fun bar, upscale and trendy.

Huge room!
Anonymous, Denver, CO Sep 5, 2008
We spent four nights at the Palomar last week. Our room was very large, and cutely appointed as all Kimptons are (Zebra ... striped throw on the bed, etc.). The decor was zippy but dark - shades of black, brown and grey - and our room had an odd shape because of the building layout, which left us with only one smallish window in a corner and therefore not much natural light. But it's a pleasure to have room to unpack and move around in a hotel room these days, and I'd trade the space for the light if I had to choose! Room was well-equipped if not sparklingly fresh and the lobby is small but nice. Restaurant struck us as somewhat overpriced, but the location near Dupont Circle is such that there are many, many dining options to choose from. Prices fluctuate from great deals to very, very high depending on what's going on in DC, but we were very pleased with our rate.

Central to everything
Kristy, Pequannock Sep 2, 2008
The Hotel Palomar was perfect for our needs in everyway. It was surrounded by restaurants and little cafes, was within ... walking distance (less than 5 minutes) to the metro line, and had an outdoor pool (hard to find in D.C.). They had a great wine, beer, and olive happy hour every night from 5-6, where everything was free and people would sit and relax and unwind after a day of siteseeing. The hotel's room are a little modern, which I found refreshing, but my boyfriend thought was weird. They had a plasma tv in our room and little touches like leopard and tiger printed bathrobes were cute. I did not eat at the hotel's restaurant or have the room service because there was too many other cheaper possibilities on P street. The only thing that I didn't like about the Palomar was the parking, $38 dollars a night, seemed a bit pricey. I can get cheaper in NYC!! But overall the experience was nice and we would definately go back their again when we go to Washington.
IF you are going to be going to the sights or into Alexandria, VA (cute historic town), then buy a full day pass on the metro. It $6 and its cheaper than buying trips everytime you go through one gate.

Fabulous!!
Dana Aug 23, 2008
The Palomar in Washington DC is a fabulous hotel. The decor is modern and sleek. The service is exceptional. You are always ... greeted with a friendly smile from everyone to the bell boy to the conceriege. They provided a fabulous conceriege who provided directions, gave restuarant suggestions, and even made reservations for our dinners. They offered us complmentary coffee or tea each morning in the lobby living room. They also delivered a complimentary paper to our door each morning. In the evening, they provided a complimentary wine tasting. They served wine, beer, sodas, and hor'dorves each night from 5 - 6PM. The guests were very important to the hotel. They also had a lovely fitness center and gorgous pool. The hotel was in walking distance to the metro and many restaurants. I would recommend this hotel to everyone. It was a fabulous vacation spot.
1. Great restaurant, Dining Under the Stars, right across the street from the hotel. They also have a Sunday Brunch with Jazz. 2. Right up the block, Tangy Sweet, a great fresh frozen yogurt place, with lots of toppings such as fruit, cereal, and chocolate. It is also low fat. 3. Across the street, a great crepere with delicios crepes.

My review of Hotel Palomar Washington DC - a Kimpton Hotel
Anonymous, Beachwood Aug 10, 2008
Very refreshing to be in this contmporary upscale hotel. The abundant art and decor were delightful and surprising. The ... room was small but very well equiped with technology such as lamps on dimmers and audiovisual hi tech. The extra charge for parking seemed steep ($34).

Another Great Kimpton
Lisa, East Longmeadow Aug 9, 2008
I have stayed at several Kimpton brand hotels in other cities and have always love the service and amenities that each have ... to offer. The Hotel Palomar in Washington did not disappoint. The room was enormous with a very comfortable king sized bed, flat screen TV, mini bar and desk. It was very clean and well appointed with L'Occitane toiletries (I buy these for myself at home so it was great to have them provided by a hotel) and very soft terry animal print bath robes. I hated to leave the room to go to my meetings. The DuPont Circle location was terrific as there are many international dining choices within walking distance and the proximity to the Metro was an added bonus.
The thai place down the street delivered to the hotel.

This was a family visit, but i needed to get work done. I was able to get online when i needed to and also able to relax in a ... great pool and gym. Then we were able to get our mother in for dinner with wheel chair access and the very friendly wait staff accomodated all changes in the meal requested for her 91 year old needs. It was also great to unwind each evening with the wine happy hour. The staff were all professional as well as friendly and helpful I would stay here for either business or pleasure again

Great weekend getaway
Benjamin, Philadelphia Jun 29, 2008
The Hotel Palomar was great for a weekend getaway with my girlfriend. The room was fantastic. The animal print theme was ... very well executed. The bed was very comfortable. The wireless Internet was both free and reliable. Our room was on the top floor and had an interior courtyard view, which was nice. The bathroom was huge and spotless. The only problem was that the water tended to splash everywhere whenever we used the sink facet. The shower was one of the best that Iıve encountered at a hotel. The hotel is located in a nice neighborhood and there are several good restaurants within one block. Overall, an excellent experience. Highly recommended.
Take a trip to Georgetown for some shopping.

Good location in Dupont Circle. Regular rooms are small. My wife didn't like that there was only one mirror, and only in ... bathroom. Hip decor, and ipod docking station was nice. I'd stay here again if I got a decent deal
Many restaurants and bars all in the area. Sunday brunch around Dupont is fun.

Stylish AND very comfortable
Susan, Philadelphia, PA Jul 23, 2007
Modern hotels can be cold when they're overeager with the black and chrome; Palomar is very stylish but still warm and ... comfortable. Our room was small but beautiful. I loved being able to use my iPod in the room. The wine reception in the early eve. was a nice welcome back after a day of sightseeing. Had an excellent breakfast that didn't break the bank (unlike many hotel breakfasts). Had a LOVELY romantic dinner at Firefly, another Kimpton property that's a few blocks away. I think the area (DuPont Circle) is the best place to stay in D.C., because it's hip and bustling but still feels like a neighborhood. Oh, well. awesome.
If you go to the new American Indian museum, which is stunning, be sure to eat lunch at the cafe. We're not talking reheated burgers wrapped in foil. Food choices are offered from various regions within the Americas -- North, Central, and South. Interesting and yummy.
