The Aqua Palm's and Spa was very comfortable and had everything for the traveler. Location is very good -- it was close to ... the beach and Ala Moana Shopping Center. There a few restaurants very close to the hotel. I wish will be more there. Otherwise since my last trip I had seen a big improvement in a room decoration: furniture was new, rooms had closets and LCD TV. Also Hotel staff was very nice and friendly. I already recommend it to a few friends ,and if I come to Honolulu I will be staying there again.

Awesome location, friendly service
Claudia, Berkeley, CA Oct 1, 2008
This hotel has a great location. They are within walking distance of the beach, and you have several restaurants very close ... by that you can walk too also. Many choices in fact. You have american, japanese, chinese.etc. I am in the hotel business and found that the breakfast served had poor choices. They offered small croissants and 2 choices of muffins(bran&blueberry) but no milk. Thereafter they had muffins and some small round pastry with apple/cinnamon inside. They had two kinds of juices and coffee. The have a manager present at breakfast talking to the guests and I liked that very much. It shows that they care. The room offers small refrigerator and microwave. So we purchased milk and things that we wanted to have during our stay. They have a business center in the lobby, but you have to pay for usage to print your boarding passes. They should have a separate computer for printing boarding passes only without cost. The rooms are very nice, beds are soooo comfortable. I slept like a baby :) Overall everything was great. We will be back next year.
There is a restaurant very close by called Todai. Great selection of food. They serve a variety of foods including sushi.

I chose the hotel because I only wanted a room for one evening, en route to somewhere else...the hotel was difficult to get ... to, difficult to find (it's somewhat hidden from the road and easy to miss) expensive to park at, the garage is rather narrow and frightening (don't even TRY it with a mid-size vehicle!) and the rooms were fine, but about what I expected for the price and nothing more.

Great tourist hotel - excellent value!
Wayne, New Hope Sep 26, 2008
I'm a cheap-skate when it comes to hotels when I leisure travel, and typically stay at 'better' hotels when I travel for ... work. So, with that said, Aqua Palms wasn't the most or least expensive when I booked my trip. Long story short, I was impressed. My room was incredible plenty of space, immaculate, very well maintained. And honestly, a few of the evenings, when I didn't feel like going out, laying back in bed, and watching cable on the 42 LCD in the room was pretty relaxing. The location is close to shopping, the beach and public transportation. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. So, I usually don't write reviews up after traveling, but this time I had to share my delight.
Check out the Army Museum, its a few blocks away, free, and pretty cool.

Awesome Staff!=]
Melissa Joy, Daly City Sep 8, 2008
The staff was awesome! They were nice and check in/check out was a breeze. The location is good. It's a ten minute walk to ... downtown waikiki. The beach is close too. It is right next to Todai and ABC store and infront of Kobe Japanese Steakhouse. I like the fact that our room came in with a refrigerator, a microwave, plates, silverware, and glassware along with hangers, bathrobes, a lot of storage for clothes, and a safe. Our bed was so soft and comfortable. Our TV was a really big plasma screen TV. We practically bummed out in our hotel room right after we went parasailing because its such a relaxing room. The staff was awesome and very friendly. They called to remind us of checkout too. The gym was ok. It wasn't that big. The pool wasn't big either but spa was cheap although i didn't try it. Breakfast was ok. Overall, I would definitely stay in this hotel again!:)

Just right!
Benedict, San Francisco, CA Sep 8, 2008
it was my very first time at the Aqua Palms & Spa; the hotel was located only 1 block away from the main beach and ... restaurants (no restaurant in the hotel) which was perfect... The hotel did not look much from the outside, but as you entered the staff was very friendly and outgoing making sure that you were taken care of in a timely manner. The greeting was very friendly and informative. The only set back was that the check in time is 3pm; very different from other boutique hotels I stayed at before: normal check in times from other hotels varied from 11am to 1pm making the 3pm check in time a little late and inconvenient. The entrance was very well kept and clean, but the room itself had signs of 'wear and tear' that could've easily been fixed making the room look more like an 'upscale' boutique hotel... The beddings were minimal and unattractive, looking cheap! The housecleaning was desirable, mostly in the bathroom were the bath tub was not cleaned on a regular basis as well as for the marble floors where greasy shoe prints were found on a regular basis. All in all, I was very satisfied and happy with the hotel and the amenities; but the upkeeps and cleanliness of the room could use some improvements and more attention to details.
The shopping, restaurants and beaches are near by making it very convenient. The public transportation is easy.

very nice room - breakfast is lacking
Anonymous Aug 12, 2008
this is a lovely hotel, conveniently located. Personnel is very nice, room was large and gorgeous (even though it was one of ... the budget obstructed view rooms), lobby is lovely. Parking is next to hotel for $18/day. I did not use the spa. There are a few downsides which were not too important to me but should be considered depending on what kind of a vacation you're planning. The breakfast is available in a room next to pool - there is limited seating, and limited food choices. the orange juice does not seem to be fresh, but seems more like orange drink. there are apples, bananas, blueberry and bran muffins, coffee and tea and that's about it. No hot food. If you don't want to stay in the room with the food (and it truly is a room, not a dining room. It feels like a hotel room that has had table dragged into it simply to provide the breakfast that European travelers like), the option is to stand outside by the pool, or sit on a chaise lounge by pool (tough to balance your cup of coffee) stand at one of two bar-type tables, or perhaps grab the one table with seats. As you would expect, there are several people having breakfast at the same time, so it's like a milling crowd, all looking for seats and reaching for the same food at the same time. Not great. The other down-side is the pool which is miniscule - almost like a pond! It's pretty, but not for swimming - really for dipping. Lap swimmers would be discouraged as would children who like to swim and play. Oh - the third negative was the fact that although each rooms provides a hookup for computer, the only wi-fi is in the lobby. There are two computers available there, but they are $5/for 19 minutes. A hotel like this should offer free computer use!! Even small hotels offer a computer for free for their guests. HOWEVER! Having warned you about the fairly important downsides, the place is really quite pretty, well-located, rooms are comfy (coffee provided in room). You can cross the street to the gorgeous and amazing beach at the Hilton Hawaiian, and listen to the music they play for guests sinbathing over there. All beaches in Hawaii (ALL) are public, so if you see a fancy hotel on the beach and want to swim or sunbathe there - you are welcome to! So my advice to budget travelers: stay at Aqua - it's a GREAT, bring your computer, eat breakfast out, and use the beach across the street.
check out the Coffee shop on the corner - cheap and good. all other restaurants are expensive!

Anonymous Aug 12, 2008
The Aqua Palms & Spa was all right but if you are looking for a fancy hotel don't stay there. The swimming pool is ... unbelievable small, the breakfast just juice/coffee/apple/banana and muffins, no bread/milk/cheese/ham/butter...... too early as well from 7:30 AM to 9:30 AM. The staff is ok but no efforts at all to help you out. The hotel was a walking distance from shopping area.
There is a 24 hrs restaurant just right next door but the food is no good at all.

Staff were very accommodating. Great location. Housekeeper who cleaned my room was very nice and respectful. How I wish I ... could remember her name. But she did an incredible job. The only thing I didn't like was when a maintenance man was rushing me while a was getting ready to be out of the room because of the new TV installation. That, I didn't appreciate.
Close to the Harbor, Beach, Shopping Center. Accessible to everything.

Anonymous, Los Angeles Jun 16, 2008
If you want a beach front hotel this is not a place for you. The beach is on the other side. It's walking distance ... definitely. About 1 LONG block away. An upside to staying at Aqua Palms is that it's away from the raucous. They also have a great dining restaurant and bar right at the corner. They have friendly staff, its very clean, except for some occasional ants on our kitchen counter. The bed was comfy and the view was nice. Try to get a lanai, it makes the stay so much more luxurious, but its definitely not an ocean view. There's breakfast every morning for 2 hours starting at 7:30 a.m. Coffee, juices, muffins, croissants, and fruit is served right next to the pool. Awesome placement of the pool! If you want to tan, the sun is definitely hitting the pool throughout the day. This hotel is full of all kinds of people. Families, couples, groups/teams and singles. I would definitely recommend this hotel to someone who is just looking for a nice hotel.

Wailana Coffee House is at the corner of the block. It has a great breakfast. They are super fast at taking out the food and their Mai Tais are fantastic. Cheap and right to the point.
