The OHANA Waikiki West Hotel was good, clean, convenient accommodations. The hotel staff, including front desk, ... concierge and housekeeping, were all VERY courteous and responsive. The hotel is in an older building and is kept in good condition; the lobby is immaculate, hallways are clean although signs of normal wear are visible, the room was clean and fresh although, as I mentioned, older. Notably the bathroom was small. It had been modernized over time but it IS hard to expand a shower stall. The most positive point with this would be gallons of HOT water at GREAT pressure:-) Occasionally I heard the conversations of neighbors but it was not a deal breaker as far as my satisfaction with the stay. Coffee maker and safe included in the room. I do highly recommend the OHANA Waikiki West Hotel.
You're in the heart Waikiki Beach, Honolulu, Hawaii! Everything, the world class beach, world class shopping and world class dining are all right outside this comfortable hotel:-)

Great value!
Cheryl, San Francisco, CA Apr 21, 2008
My husband I and I recently stayed at the Ohana West for 4 nights. It was our second time in Oahu/Waikiki and we were very ... pleased with the hotel. What we liked best was the kitchenette feature since we were able to store our leftovers in the fridge and to always keep cool bottled water in the room. The housekeeping staff was very friendly and were quick to always clean our room every morning. The location was great... we were one block from the beach and we were surrounded by plenty of restaurants and stores. We were also across the street from the International Marketplace, which was great for us! The only bad part of that location was that every night, we would hear loud music playing until 4am, plus the crowd hanging out on Kuhio Ave during the late night hours was a little questionable. One more thing I would like to point out is that the elevators are a little weird. You will need to use your room card key to use the elevators but sometimes it will take a few swipes of the card before the elevator will work. Overall, we thought the hotel was a great value and we highly recommend!

We were very happy to see that the Food Pantry was right across the street from the hotel. They are open until 1am, which is great! We were able to purchase snacks and bottled water there. There is also a Coffee Bean and Beard Papas inside the store.

Rick, Des Moines, IA Feb 24, 2008
This hotel was centrally located for many activities and great pick up point for all the kinds of transportation needed to ... take you anywhere on the island. The hotel staff great and friendly. The booking agents for activities great and quick and money savings for me.
Food, shopping, groceries, entertainment, etc. less then a block to get started. Wakiki beach two blocks short walk.

Great Location
Anonymous, New Orleans, LA Sep 26, 2007
The hotel staff was very nice. Gave us a free room upgrade when we got there. The room was larger than most hotel rooms. ... The hotel was in a great location. It was only a couple of blocks from the famous Waikiki beach and was directly across from the International Market Place. Bus stop was right out the front door and you could get anywhere on the island using the public transportation. Free trolly also stopped in front of the hotel and would take you to local places.
Duke's restaurant was only a couple blocks from the hotel and was situated right on the beach. Great place for breakfast. The breakfast buffet was $14.95 per person and well worth it. Hy's Steak House was only a few blocks away. Great food and service. A real classy place.

Didn't meet expectations
Anonymous, Rochester, NY Sep 23, 2007
I'm not sure if I would return to OHANA Waikiki West, HONOLULU (OAHU), HI with the other options that are available. We were ... put on the 11th floor, in a corner where you could hear ALL the noise from the street ALL night long. The shower was a little dinky shower that wasn't very comfortable. When we needed to go anywhere we needed to leave plenty of extra time so we could wait for an elevator to eventually stop on our floor. The elevators were always crowded and always took a long time to catch an available one. It was a place to put my head down and sleep for the night, but I was expecting more.

My daughter and I only stayed one night at this hotel. The room was clean but overlooked a parking lot. We were also on the ... same floor as the lounge and the pool. The lounge at night was a little loud but once we were in our room, we didn't hear it much. The shower was extremely small. Walking distance to shopping and restaurants.

Anonymous, Kahului, HI Aug 19, 2007
Great location, room was somewhat small, but you get what you pay for. Bed was a little uncomfortable and the pillows were ... bad. We did like the city skyline from the room and the fresh air from the balcony. Just a bigger bed that was more comfortable and I would have loved it.
Many quality places for dining and entertainment within a short walking distance.

questionable rooms
Anonymous Aug 9, 2007
We had chosen this hotel based on air conditioning and safety. We found our bathroom had an open window/vent which opened ... out onto the stairwell. You could take a shower and have people outside the shower. We also found two men passed out in the hallway when we first arrived which turned out to be actual hotel guests waiting for their roommate to return. But very scary. The hotel management did allow us to switch rooms which turned out to be fine. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

My review of OHANA Waikiki West
Anonymous Jul 31, 2007
Although a decent hotel, one of our last nights while we were sleeping our room was broken into and robbed. I had to cancel ... all my credit cards, two phones were stolen, and a pair of expensive shoes. Even worse all they did was move us to another room, they did not recompensate us for that night or anything.

On par for Waikiki
Anonymous, Fairbanks, AK Jun 26, 2007
This is a slightly older hotel, in comparison to the newer ones in Waikiki, however the cost is comparable to the newer ones. ... It is RIGHT in the middle of Waikiki and an easy stroll to any resto, bar or attraction. It's super stroller friendly and there is a ton of staff around to help with questions, directions or suggestions. Overall not bad, but you're paying for the location and not necessarily a fancy room.
