Very helpful staff
Anonymous Jul 26, 2008
The Outrigger Luana Waikiki was a good value for the money. The room was very clean and maintained well while we were ... there. The hotel staff were very helpful on the phone and in person. They were honest about the noise level form the streets in different parts of the hotel. Upgrade to a partial oceanview room was only $10 more per evening and was very quiet in the evening given it's location on a busy road. The location on Fort DeRussey park was perfect for us because it was away from the busy tourist beach but in easy walking distance to it and all of the shops and restaurants. We enjoyed walking thorugh the park to get to the beach and enoyed watching Tai Chi class in the park form our balcony each morning. We had to park in another hotel lot for overflow which was a short block and half walk. No inconvience there either. PArking was always avialable so we did not try to change to the lot in our own hotel. The one drawback was that the pool closed at 9 and there was no hot tub. Otherwise-good hotel for the cost.

Our bed mattress was old and uncomfortable. It made a lot of creaking noise when rolling over, and I was not able to rest ... well. However, the room was overall very clean, and Seattle's Best Coffee Shop on site was very convenient. The location is a walking distance to Waikiki Beach.

Designed for extensive stay
Mary, Salinas May 24, 2008
The Outrigger Luana Waikiki was reasonably comfortable. Our room was near the elevators & not far from the laundry ... facilities & it had no view (since we chose a city view room, we really didn't expect much). We were suprised that the room had facilities for a longer stay than our two night visit(refrigerator, microwave, kitchen type sink etc.). The staff was very accomodating & it has a nice gift shop. Our son & his family stayed at the same hotel & had a more expensive room that was very nice. It had a separate bedroom, sitting room & kitchen that was well designed including a handsome bar & barstools . It would be very nice for a week's stay. There was no restaurant attached, but there was a place to grab a quick breakfast in front of the facility & lots of places to dine nearby. The beach & stores all required a short walk.

There are several parks near by & an Army museum that has lots of WWII memorabilia

Perfect for Familes
Allison, Boston, MA Aug 17, 2007
The Outrigger Luana was a perfect choice for my husband and I and our 3 sons. The boys shared a very spacious 1 bedroom suite ... that was just beautiful with an extremely large balcony overlooking the pool. My husband and my room was a studio which was also very spacious. Our room had a kitchen area and the boys room had a complete kitchen. The rooms were spotless and maid service was excellent everyday. It was a bit of a walk to the beach (10 minutes) and it was actually near all of Waikiki. Since it is a condo styled hotel, it does not have a full service restaurant but does have a great Seattle's Coffee shop.We enjoyed it so much we plan on going back next year!

good value for the price
Alfred Aug 15, 2007
If you need four or five star amenities then this hotel is probably not for you. However, if you want a nice clean hotel with ... a friendly staff, at a reasonable price for waikiki in August then this hotel is for you. The fitness center was more than adequate for the price ( the pool is small and no jacuzzi) and we used it every day. You are at the beginning of waikiki so it will be a short walk to the international marketplace, and/or the beach, but hey this is waikiki you should be expecting to walk. However the parking garage is extremely small and we had to park at the niketown down the street for two of our nights there. Overall though the room was clean and spacious for the price the location was good and the staff was excellent. We would stay again. 3 star value at a 3 star price.

The hotel was located in good distance to the Hawaii Convention Center. I was attending a convention so it was good walking ... distance. I would have likes to have a microwave in the kitchen. It is expensive to eat out,so having a micowave to heat food would have been great. The staff was accomodating at the desk to heat my food. Overall, I was pleased with the accomodations. Except the air conditioner was a bit noisy.

Satisfied with it all!
Carol, San Diego, CA Jan 28, 2007
I was pleased when my boyfriend and I had entered our room. Except we were wondering why we had kitchen knives in our ... kitchen for when it didn't come with a microwave or a stove.... haha well it didn't matter to us because we weren't planning on cooking anything, we just found that a bit strange.. Although it would've been nice to have something to warm up some leftovers in the middle of the night. Anyway the room was splendid, it was roomy enough for us. Couldn't really complain about anything, except the parking fee was $18 a night. Oh well.. renting a car was worth it though..
Loved the fact that a block away is all the designer stores like Christian Dior, Louis Vuitton, Coach, you name it! And I really recommend the restaurant Nick's Fish Market just a half block away. It's pretty pricey but the food is an absolute delight as well as our waiter Kris!

BIG AND COMFORTABLE CONDO SUITES
Anonymous Jan 20, 2007
This property looks very non-descript from the outside, but the room we were in was so comfortable, and included a kitchen. ... We were on the 16th floor with a nice view of the park. The week we were there it seemed liked we were one of the few in the entire place. I particularly enjoyed the location because it is not right in the middle of all the crowds, noise, etc. Walk to the beach may be significant for older and younger folks, but pleasant. Beware of the $18 parking fee a day in the small garage. Also during our stay, my towel was taken by housekeeping and staff was not very responsive in finding or replacing it.

convenient and quiet location
tracy, Kalamazoo, MI Jan 5, 2007
The Outrigger Luana Waikiki was in a very convenient location. It is right next to Fort DeRussey Park and within walking ... distance to both the beach and the major strip (shopping/dining), I especially liked the Eggs & things breakfast dining spot and that Niketown and Banana Republic were a block away. Even though the pool and fitness center were small, we used them everyday and it was convenient to have them right next to each other. Like I said the best thing about the hotel was that was close enough to all the fun and sun, but far enough away to be quiet and relaxing!
A shoppers paradise location! Every high end store possible a short walk away! Tiffany & Co, Chanel, Max Mari, Fendi, Dolce Gabana, Armani Exchange...and many malls near esp. Al Moana ...Fabulous! Also Macy's and smaller stores as well.

The hotel was a very nice place to stay; however, we had to upgrade because the room didn't have a microwave or any cooking ... area where when we thought we would have a kitchen. It was a 20$ + tax upgrade. One of the hotel staff, was very helpful in providing ideas on what we should do in the surrounding area. Walking was not very bad at all. The beach was about 15 minutes away, but the walk was really relaxing. There are no cheap restaurants nearby that showcase local food stylings, but overall, we mostly went the ABC stores which are everywhere, and cooked. The view of the hotel showcased the strips of lights and shopping and was very nice. The pool was never crowded and the staff was always willing to help. However, on the last day, we had to check out late due ot the fact that one of our tours took a little too long, and the staff was not willing to accomodate. Later, I was charged an extra 40$ for who knows what! The hotel is good for its price, but if you can afford better, I would probably go there instead.

The Outrigger Luana Waikiki is a good hotel but for the price per night. The hotel room was averaged size but very clean. The ... queen bed was very comfortable and the accomodations were very nice. Overall, I would recommend this hotel because it is close to everything like Nike Town, TGI Fridays is across the street from hotel, the beach and International Market Place is just blocks away. If you forgot to bring some items from home, they have ABC stores on practically every corner.
