Nice Hotel
Anonymous, Torrance, * Nov 4, 2008
The Helmsley is a nice hotel. We would have liked a room with a better view. It was clean and comfortable. Service was ... good. We would have liked a way to heat up some water for tea or coffee. I would recommend it, but it is a little pricey.
It was not far to Times Square. Close walk to Grand Central station.

My review of The New York Helmsley Hotel
William Oct 12, 2008
The check-in experience was very unfriendly. We were told nothing, and had to find our way to the elevator and our room ... ourselves. The parking fees were very high for NYC per night. We would not recommend this hotel or stay there again. Beds were not comfortable. Outside staff were very friends and helpful. Wish that could have been transfered to inside help.
Somewhat a good location for the theater district, but much nicer hotels far closer, but were not available for that weekend.

the hotel is very close to new york's best shopping and right next door to a deli so that you can stay energized while you shop.

The only thing issue we had was the shower made a lot of noise, there was more water coming out of the facuet then the shower ... head, and water went on the floor while taking a shower, I think the shower curtain was not long enough to keep the water in the tub.

The New York Helmsley was a great place for us to stay. The room was very clean and the hotel staff was very friendly. The ... concierge was very helpful - making dinner reservations for us and providing us with some ideas on what to do while in New York City. The location was well within walking distance of Broadway, Fifth Avenue etc.

I was very favorably impressed with this hotel. The room was very comfortable, and worked well for getting some work done ... while away from the office. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The location was great too - right downtown, and close to the business center. All in all, a very enjoyable experience.

NY HELMSLEY TOTALLY ROCKS
Margarita Aug 11, 2008
From the moment I checked in to the moment I left I was satisfied! Everyone was nice, some addressed me by name which is un ... heard of I loved the fact that at night they asked for the key which made me secure knowing that they care for our safety. When I came in and explained that I was late from the airport due to my delayed luggage; they kept my room and informed me first thing next day that my luggage had arrived. Harry's Bar was wonderful and I really felt at home. I will for sure stay there again. THANK YOU EVERYONE AT NY HELMSLEY!!!! Much luv and God Bless.

Becky, Garland, TX Aug 4, 2008
This was our first family trip to New York City. We are a family of five, but the kids are 21, 23, and 25. Our main objective ... was a ny yankees game and area site seeing. The New York Helmsley Hotel, New York, New York is a great hotel for tourists. It was clean and the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. We did not spend much time at the hotel. It is not a resort type stay, but you are in New York City, who stays in their hotel much? It was a few blocks from Grand Central Station were we caught the subway or you could get a taxi right at the hotel. We thought we wanted closer to Times Square, but we were very glad we did not stay in or near times square! We felt very safe in and around The New York Helmsley Hotel. I would highly recommend this hotel and we would stay here again. And it was the best price.

Great Location-Helpful Staff
Anonymous Aug 3, 2008
Two 50 something Moms and two 20 something daughters on a long weekend in NYC. Great location, fabulous deli next door for ... early morning coffee and breakfast. Incredibly friendly and helpful staff. Concierge recommendations were all good - loved DaNico in Little Italy. Room was nothing special, but comfortable enough for four women in two double beds. Needed more hangers and towels, no problem. Delivered promptly. Bar and lobby well appointed and comfortable. Elevators a little slow, but hotel was crowded with European tourists - very interesting people watching. Would return without hesitation and would recommend to family and friends.

Judith, Queensbury, NY Aug 2, 2008
Not only was the staff at the Helmsley polite and helpful, but they seem to really enjoy helping out the quests. Our ... check-in host was not only helpful, but he was funny and cheerful! The room was clean and I enjoyed the free internet access. The location of this hotel is excellent as you could easily walk to grand central if you are traveling by train. There are many good delis and restaurants within 1-2 blocks. We also took advantage of a CVS, which was next door.

You must visit an Italian restaurant in Greenwich Village called Morandy's. It's on 7th and Waverly and in addition to the food being excellent, it has a fun welcoming atmosphere! Reasonably priced too!
