The Hyatt Regency Waikiki was a very pleasant experience. All the employees were friendly and helpful. The ocean view room ... was very spacious, and the view of the beach was perfect. The breakfast buffet was better than most with a wide variety of foods and fruit. The staff at the pool was very helpful with beach towels and chairs. The location of the hotel is central to all Waikiki locations. I have been to Waikiki 11 times and this is the best hotel I have stayed in. We will definitely return.

Waikiki Beach with a view of Diamond Head was only steps from the hotel. Beachfront stores justs downstairs, with designer shopping blocks away. Save money at breakfast by going aross the street to the Sheraton Deli, serving good, hot Kona Coffee and quick moderately priced breakfasts.

Nice room, the hotel upgraded us to ocean view when we got there. Friendly staff, they call you by your name at dinner and on ... the phone. Great view of the beach as it is litterally across the street. Every thing you could want is there for you, from dining to car rentals and shopping as well as trips. Made our stay fun and easy.

Anonymous, Minneapolis, MN Feb 15, 2008
The Hyatt is a nice hotel, although the lobby is not very well set up. You have to walk way out of the way just to get to ... the elevators. Its was great that the hotel was located across the street from the Waikiki beach, but I just don't think it was worth the price to stay there.
Polynesian Cultural center was a great experience its about a 45 minute ride from the hotel, and if you rent a car and drive there its a nice scenic ride.

We were greeted by the front desk. She was friendly, helpful and we just loved her. The Chio Mein restaurant was horrible. ... The food was over priced and bland. That was our only bad experience at the hotel. Other than that the location was great and we had a great view. We'd stay there again.

Overall, the hotel is nice but impersonal and charge you for things that other hotels routinely offer. It was not a good ... value for the money or did not offer luxurious ammenities such as a nice pool or jacuzzi. Pool was small, crowded, and outdated. It resembled that of a one star budget hotel. Elevator does not go all the way down to ground level, and you have to carry your luggage on an escalater and carry it down several steps to get in a car, thus forcing you to use the help of a bellman for extra tips. Room had a coffee maker, but you have to pay $1.50 for a pod to make a single cup of coffee using a paper cup. I used a safe in the room, and I was charged to pay $3.15 cash for using it. I could not use express self check out when I was in a hurry, and had to wait in line to see a cashier to complete my check out. I missed my shuttle as a result. Cable TV had four Japanese channels, but no channels with other language such as Korean or Spanish. This is clearly discriminating in favor of Japanese guests, and I was offended by it. Other hotels in the area offered a coffee maker in the room, safe, and TV channels in different languages.
There was a nice deli, five blocks down to your right from the hotel, that offered a very good variety of foods. ABC stores nearby. Fast food places (McDonnald and Burger King), within a couple blocks down the road. International market had a good food court.

A pleasurable Experience

The Hyatt Regency Waikiki Resort and Spa made us feel welcome from the moment we entered the door. The staff were pleasant ... and accommodating, the room was comfortable and spacious with a pleasant view. Dining options within the hotel were enjoyable and the hotel's location afforded easy access to other restaurants as well as the beach, shopping, and tourist attractions. We were able to enjoy very pleasant walks around the surrounding area. My wife and I would not hesitate to stay at the Hyatt Regency on a return trip to Honolulu.
There are numerous shops within the facility and even more interesting shopping venues in the immediate area of the hotel.

Not worth the money
Anonymous Aug 9, 2007
The Diamondhead tower of the hotel was dirty and nothing more than your usual hotel room. When we were moved into a two bed ... room, we changed towers and the rooms were much nicer and larger. The check in desk is located on the second floor and is not convenient nor is the parking. Self parking was $18 a day and valet was $25. The parking lot is across the street. There is only one very small pool and there was a long line each morning to have breakfast. We never did eat at the hotel.

Ellen, Phoenix, AZ Jul 5, 2007
I think the doubled bed is little small and when I made my reservation, I have 7 people all together, but first day they put ... us in two different tower. So the next day they told me to move to my family's side tower, so I did but I found out the room are smaller than the one I had on the first night, so I called and they moved us again. And also one morning when my children are hungry for donuts, I went down stair the little cafe to buy a cup of coffee for myself and 3 donuts for my kids. But on the second donuts one of my kids saw there was a hair inside the donut, they even did not want to eat the third one which I had to throw it to the trash. I was litte upset. If it is not the location so convenient, I don't think I will recommend for anyone. Hopefully next time if I come back everything will change better.

Increadible Views
Anonymous, Seattle, WA Jun 30, 2007
I was pretty much satisfied with the hotel although there was a misrepresentation on the Hyatt website informing that the ... children below 17 years old could eat for free when the parent order one main course. There is nothing free in this hotel. You should expect to pay for a cup of coffee in your room, $1.50. I assumed that all hotels provide a complementary coffee for their guests. Great view from a balcony. Quiet and cool.
